The Rev. Dr. Elisabeth Johnson is a pastor and missionary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). She teaches New Testament and Greek at the Lutheran Institute of Theology in Meiganga, Cameroon. The Institute trains pastors and leaders for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cameroon and sister churches in west and central Africa.

I was struggling a bit with the parables and figured I’d do a quick Google search for some help. I said a quick prayer for guidance, and bam – my eyes went to your entry on the search results page. Your comments were lucid and beautifully written, and I could feel your love for Yeshua in all that you wrote. I am very much looking forward to reading your other commentaries. I am an ELCA pastor in Sandusky, Ohio. And, upon checking in “Working Preacher” on the alternate Gospel lesson for the Day of Pentecost, I was directed to your commentary from three years ago. How cool it will be to tell folk on Sunday that a resource person for the sermon is a professor at a Lutheran seminary in Cameroon! I have printed your latest blog entry for folks to read. And, for what it’s worth, I have a friend, Kurt Meyers, a retired pastor in Toledo, Ohio, who not only was a missionary in Cameroon but came from the same home congregation as I did on the south side of Columbus, Ohio.

I came across a short commentary you wrote on John 7:37-38 and was interested that you did not mention Ezekiel 47:1-12. I had read somewhere that the Ezekiel was read during Shavuot.
